Help With Our Newest Church

Launch team members from our newest church on the district recently visited the next to the newest church. Journey UMC was invited by Pastor Scott Beck to visit all three churches on the Prince Edward Charge. One of the churches, Mount Harmony UMC, founded in 1934 was previously the most recent church plant in our district. Needless to say, few if any members in the Farmville District remember the last time we planted a new church so we all might need a nudge on how to do it successfully. Pastor Mike Davis of Journey spoke at all three services inviting participation in this new church effort. ―I would love to speak at any churches in the district and explain to them the value in being a  ̳third class‘ church, ― says Davis.
There are three different ways you can choose to help Journey UMC.
We need prayer partners. It takes God‘s will to grow a church. Consider adding Journey to your regular prayer petitions and be in conversation with God about the future of the church.
We need missionaries. It takes people to grow a church. Consider coming with Journey for one year and supporting it with your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness. At the end of the year, you may choose to return to your home church or to join Journey.
We need financial support. It takes gifts to grow a church. Consider gifts you or your church might have that Journey could use in the form of furniture, equipment or funds.

For two years, a committee in our district has been working to raise funds for All Things New. Three churches in our district have joined others across the state in renewal and growth. They have received training in Fall 2009 for Mission to the Poor, in Spring 2010 for Passionate Worship, and in  Fall 2010 for Intentional Faith Developement. Those churches are: Farmville UMC, Jetersville UMC, and Victoria UMC.
